A lack of space means that children at risk of suicide or self-harm continue to be placed in adult psychiatric wards – 95 children were admitted to adult units last year.

"The 95 Project" aims to facilitate a dialog between the public and private health sectors to ensure children can get appropriate care.

The initiative is being launched by Senator Joan Freeman – she says using private beds is a simple short term solution.
