The Justice Minister says there are just under 4,500 people in the direct provision system, including 250 at Knockalisheen in near Meelick.

The figure indicates that the centre is at full capacity.

Last week, a report recommended a range of overhauls to direct provision, including increased financial supports for the residents and moves to reduce the amount of time that people are in the system.
