The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital has decreased significantly today.

The latest figures from the INMO show 25 patients were waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 18 of those on trolleys in the Emergency Department.

It means the Dooradoyle facility is the second busiest in the country, with 6 fewer patients on trolleys than Cork.

It comes on a day when 109 patients have been left waiting to be admitted at hospitals across the country.
