248 fines have been handed out by Gardai in Clare over non-compliance with COVID restrictions so far this year.
It’s among more than 13,000 penalties handed out nationally, with the majority of fines being given due to ‘leaving home without a reasonable excuse’.

More than 1,600 people have been fined nationwide for ‘attending events in dwellings’ – though there is no breakdown for this number in relation to Clare.
The total figure for this county is the lowest of any Division in the Gardaí’s Southern Region, and the sixth lowest in the country.
