More than 2,400 people are awaiting driving tests across Clare’s three centres.
Figures released to Deputy Michael McNamara through a parliamentary question show 1,473 would-be motorists are waiting in Ennis, 614 in Shannon and 316 in Kilrush.
Just under 10 percent of those waiting in this county have a test date, more than a third of had their applications paused, while just over 20 percent have been deemed not eligible to sit a test at this point.
Waiting times are understood to be in the region of seven weeks in Kilrush, 13 weeks in Ennis and 15 weeks in Shannon.
Nationally, more than 100,000 people are on the list, which has accumulated a significant backlog since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
