24 households joined Clare’s social housing list in January.
It comes one month after the county saw its lowest level of social housing demand in five years.
In December, a total of 2,699 households in Clare were on the waiting list for a social home, making it the lowest number since 2020.
Now, the figure has crept up to 2,723, with more than half of these, or 1,435, not currently already in a local authority house or in receipt of another form of housing support.
These supports include living in a home provided by an approved housing body, receiving the Housing Assistance Payment or benefitting from the Rental Accommodation Scheme.
Ennis remains the area of greatest demand, with 1,198 looking for a home in the county town, followed by Shannon, Clarecastle and the Inagh, Ennistymon and Lahinch region.
Just shy of eight in 10 households are seeking a one-bed or two-bed property, with three-bed dwellings the next most sought-after.
