23 year old charged with gangland murder of Limerick man

The Special Criminal Court’s heard that a Limerick man told Gardaí ‘it’s a stitch up’ after his arrest this morning for the gangland murder of James Cronin.

23 year old Nathan Killeen of Hyde Road was brought before the Dublin court where he has been charged with the killing.

Nathan Killeen wore jeans, Adidas runners and a grey T-shirt in court.

He stood when formally charged with murdering James Cronin at a place unknown between the 5th and 7th April 2008.

Detective Garda Christine Bergin of Roxboro Garda Station gave evidence that she’d handed Nathan Killeen a copy of the charge sheet in the confines of the non-jury court this morning.

She said his reply to the charge after caution was ‘it’s a stitch up’.

The 23 year old has been served with the book of evidence. He flipped through the pages while sitting in the dock.

It’s the DPP’s decision to try him in the Special Criminal Court rather than the ordinary criminal courts.

He has been remanded in custody until October 9th.
