Frankie Coote says 814 animals ended up in his care last year, down from a peak of around 2,500.
Of these, 182 had to be put down – most of these were either too ill or too dangerous.
While, 457 dogs were re-homed with most of the remainder being re-claimed by their owners.
Frankie says there are a number of factors behind the improvement in dog survival rates.
