Figures for people waiting on trolleys at the region’s main hospital have dropped significantly but still remain the highest in the country.
The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 71 patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 22 of those in the Emergency Department.

The Dooradoyle facility is by far the most overcrowded in the country, with overall trolley numbers there representing almost 20% of all those waiting for beds at hospitals across the country today.
Overall, there were 367 admitted patients on trolleys at hospitals across the country today.
