The number of new homes under construction in Clare has fallen by over 20% in the first four months of this year.
New data from the Department of Housing shows that 61 commencement notices were issued to Building Control Authorities in relation to properties in Clare from January to April.
There has been a 21% drop in the number of commencement notices issued in County Clare in the first quarter of 2023 compared to 2022.
61 notices have been issued from January to April compared to 78 in the same period last year which is a drop of 17.
Numbers are also down for the month of April this year with just 14 notices issued compared to 25 last April.
Residential commencement notices are on the rise however with 150 issued in the first four months of this year compared to 140 for the same period last year which is an increase of almost 7%.
The number of single residential commencement notices is also down with just 54 issued from January to April of this year compared to 72 in the first quarter of last year.
National figures have seen a 14% drop from 2014 in the first quarter of last year to 1737 in the same period this year.
