193 Patients Waiting Over 18 Months For Cardiology Appointments In Ennis

Over 34,500 patients in the MidWest were on waiting lists at the end of the month.

The latest figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund shows wait times for procedures in the region continue to grow.

The majority of patients were waiting for services at University Hospital Limerick, where 3,334 adults were on the inpatient list, with one-third waiting for ophthalmology or treatment of eye disorders.

There were a further 357 children on Dooradoyle’s outpatient list, where more than half were seeking ear, nose and throat services.

On the outpatient list, more than 25,000 adults were waiting for appointments in Limerick, here more than a fifth were waiting to see a consultant in Dermatology.

At Ennis General, meanwhile there were 1,270 adults on the outpatient list, with 93% waiting for a cardiology appointment.

Additionally, over 300 patients in the county town are now waiting more than 6 months for a cardiology appointment, 293 are waiting over a year and 193 are waiting more than 18 months.
