18 year old face sentence next month over Clare petrol station attack

An 18 year old will be sentenced next month for leaving a schoolboy with permanent brain damage after attacking him outside a South East Clare petrol station last year.

The Central Criminal Court heard the accused inflicted 65 kicks and stamps to his 16 year old victim’s head in four minute unprovoked attack at the Applegreen Service Station in Corbally in July 2010.

The young teenager was waiting for his mother to collect him when he was set upon by the accused who was being escorted back to his HSE accommodation by two social workers
