Over 16-hundred homes and businesses in Clare remain without power this morning in the wake of Storm Barney.
It comes as a low-level yellow weather alert remains in place for the county until ten o'clock tonight.
1,660 homes and businesses across Clare remain without power this morning after storm Barney battered the county yesterday.
Tulla is the worst affected with 784 customers without power, including St Joseph's Secondary School which has had to close this morning.
While, 572 in Ennistymon, 297 in Scarriff and 10 in Cahercalla in Ennis could also have to wait until 6 o'clock this evening for supply to be restored,
ESB crews have been working round the clock in an effort to restore power to the 45,000 homes and businesses left in the dark, across the country, after Storm Barney broke ground around lunchtime yesterday.
Shannon Airport recorded the country’s strongest gust at 129.7 kilometres per hour.
Bernadine Maloney of ESB Networks is advising those without power to turn off electric cookers, ovens and irons, leave a light switch on so you know when power has been restored and to take extra care when using candles, oil lamps or other naked flames.
She says this is a good time to call on vulnerable or elderly neighbours.
ESB Networks is apologising for any impact the storm has had on its customers.
