16 pharmacies in Clare are now offering a safe space for victims of domestic violence or coercive control.

Safe Pharmacy is a new initiative being led by the Irish Pharmacy Union, in partnership with Safe Ireland, an Garda Síochána and the HSE.

Participating pharmacies will display a purple ‘Safe Pharmacy’ symbol on their window and will provide private access to a telephone in their consultation rooms where those seeking help can contact domestic violence services, the Gardaí or family members and friends.

Chief Pharmacist, Primary Care, HSE Mid West Community Healthcare, Louisa Power, says this is about giving back power to victims.
