More than 16% of drivers in Clare had penalty points over the past three years.
New figures from the Road Safety Authority show that of the 89,749 licence holders in Clare, 15,551 had at least one penalty point recorded against them at the end of Deccember last year.

The Irish Independent reports that only 8 counties recorded higher figures, with one in five motorists in Offaly detected committing a road traffic offence.
Penalty points stay on your licence for three years, and anyone with 12 penalty points in any three-year period is automatically disqualified from driving for six months.
