The number of emergency calls attended by fire and building control crews in Clare has risen by 15% this year.
New figures released by Clare County Council show almost 900 calls have been responded to this year, with a spike recorded during the summer months.
Crews from the local authority’s Fire and Building Control Section attended 822 emergency calls across the county in the first eight months of the year.
This indicates an increase of 15% from the 765 which were attended across the same period of 2024.
Summer appears to have been the busiest period, with 107 calls attended in June and 114 in July.
Notably, a year-on-year decline of 15% was seen in the month of August when a total of 57 calls were responded to.
Crews have received five complaints in relation to dangerous structures or places so far this year, indicating a drop of 70%.
From January to August, the number of fire safety certificates received by the local authority saw a year-on-year increase of 4%, with the number granted rising by 2%.
The figure for disability access certificates received soared by 55% across the same period while the number granted increased by 49%.
The newly-released data has also revealed that commencement notices have seen a decline of 29% so far this year.
