Fianna Fáil says 14 Post Offices in Clare have been earmarked for closure.
The party’s Clare TD Timmy Dooley says 14 existing post masters and postmistresses have been offered voluntary redundancy by the company in recent days, among nearly 400 nationally.
The company has insisted there will be no compulsary closure of offices, and their moves comes in the wake of talks with the Irish Postmasters Union.
The Clare post offices affected have been listed as Broadford, Carrigaholt, Cooraclare, Craggagh-Fanore, Cree, Doonbeg, Dromindoora, Feakle, Kilfenora, Kilmurray-McMahon, Labasheeda, Lissycasey, Quilty and Whitegate.
