Nurses say the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is almost double that of the next busiest facility after the weekend.
The latest INMO analysis shows there were 120 admitted patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, compared to 64 at the next busiest facility; Galway University Hospital.

The figure is also 26 more than all ten hospitals serving the east of the country combined.
It comes in the wake of new INMO figures which show the level of overcrowding at the Dooradoyle facility jumped by 45% in the month of August, compared to the same month last year.
