An 11-year-old girl has been airlifted from a mountain in the Burren after being injured in a fall.

The girl had been hiking with her mother and another family member on Aillwee Mountain around 5 o'clock yesterday evening, when Gardaí requested assistance from the Irish Coast Guard to locate and assist the girl and her family.
They were located by the Shannon-based Search and Rescue Helipcopter and flown to an open field below Aillwee Cave where an ambulance was waiting.
The child was assessed by paramedics at the scene and was transported to hospital where she's been treated for an ankle injury.
