Close to 11,000 households in Clare are eligible for supports aimed at helping people to meet the rising cost of energy bills this winter.
They’re among 410,000 across the country to receive the Fuel Allowance from today, which is a means-assessed payment that will be paid for 28 weeks.

The payment is made at the weekly rate of 33 euro, or if preferred, through two instalments of 462 euro each.
Social Protection Minister Dara Calleary says it’s a vital payment heading into winter.
