109 On Trolleys At UHL Heading Into The Weekend

Nurses say the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is more than double that of the next busiest facility as the weekend approaches.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 109 admitted patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 43 of those in the Emergency Department.

The overall figure is 64 more than the next busiest facility; Cork University Hospital and comes on a day when 506 patients overall were waiting on trolleys at hospitals across the country.
