The level of homelessness in the Midwest has fallen by 10% in the last 12 months.
The latest figures from the Department of Housing shows there were 60 people availing of supports from homeless services in Clare at the end of August.
291 people across the Midwest were homeless during the last week in August – just over 20% of these in Clare.
It’s an increase of 2 from last month’s figure of 289 for the region – though in Clare there are now three less people receiving homeless support compared to the end of July.
It compares to a figure of 323 people classified as homelessness during the same period in 2019.
There’s a total of 41 families in the Midwest now looking for a home – a drop of four from the previous month.
26 of these are single-parent families.
35 households in this region have left homelessness since this time last year.
Nationally, 6,082 people are considered homeless – almost 5% of these people are based here in the Midwest.
