This week’s guest for In Profile is Garry Shannon.
He is the eldest member of a celebrated musical family that includes Sharon Shannon, who, of course, plays the accordion, and banjo-player Mary Shannon.
Garry is no slouch either when it comes to musical endeavours; he plays the flute with the renowned Kilfenora Ceilí Band, he has recorded solo albums and is a previous winner of the senior All-Ireland flute title.

He was also a teacher for nearly four decades, including a 27-year stint at St. Flannan’s College, from where he retired late last year.
