A large number of checkpoints will be in operation over the upcoming bank holiday weekend, in addition to those already in place.
Gardaí warn that anybody found travelling to a holiday home or second home will be turned back, and they urge people not to travel to public parks or beaches if they are further than 2km away.
Clare’s crime prevention officer sergeant Triona Brooks says that all road traffic regulations will still be enforced and asks those making an essential journey to adhere to the regulations.
