The region’s main hospital remains the busiest in the country as the week begins.

The latest INMO figures show there were 85 patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick during morning rounds, 36 of those on trolleys in the Emergency Department.

The overall figure is 29 more than the next busiest facility and comes on a day when there were 652 admitted patients waiting for beds at hospitals across the country.

It comes following record numbers at the Dooradoyle facility in the wake of the bank holiday weekend, with 124 patients waiting for beds on one day last week, the second highest number of any hospital on record.
