Clare People To Join 79 Kilometre Macra March To Government Buildings

People from Clare will be among those taking part in a 14 march from Kildare to Government buildings to highlight their distress over housing, health and the family farm.

The Macra na Feirme ‘Steps For Our Future’ march will see members from this county and beyond embark on a 79 kilometre walk tomorrow evening from Athy, where the organisation was first founded, to encapsulate 79 years of Macra.

They’re concerned about accessing affordable housing and what they’ve described as cumbersome housing planning guidelines, disjointed and sparse healthcare services for rural communities and the governments’ definition of a family farm as ‘average’ and ‘typical’.
