A Garda investigation is underway into a serious assault in Clarecastle.
One person was taken to hospital following the incident.
It’s understood that around 8 o’clock yesterday evening, a man aged in his 30s was walking on Clarehill, when he was approached by another male and assaulted.
His attacker subsequently made his escape.
Emergency services were alerted and the injured party was transported to University Hospital Limerick, where he’s being treated for injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
Gardaí in Ennis are investigating the incident, which they’ve described as “serious”.
They’re appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or who has any information in relation to the incident to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 68 48 100, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
