Formerly of Curry, Cummer, Tuam, Co. Galway.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Jack, her daughters Marian, Helen and Breege, her son
Michael, her parents Delia and Martin Murphy, and her brother Gabriel.
Deeply regretted and forever loved by her heartbroken family: her daughters Noreen and
Kitty, her sons Paul, Martin, John, Gabriel and Bernard, her cherished grandchildren and
great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, extended family, relatives, neighbours
and her many dear friends.
Marie was a truly exceptional woman whose kindness, faith, generosity and devotion touched
the lives of so many. A devoted sacristan of St. Teresa’s Church, Castledaly, for an
extraordinary 63 years, Marie’s lifelong service to her church and community was recognised
with the prestigious Benemerenti Medal from the Pope.
Above all else, Marie was a deeply loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her
family was her world, and she was the heart of theirs. The love, warmth and memories she
leaves behind will be treasured forever.
She will be missed beyond words by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral Arrangements
Marie will repose at Seomra Ciúin within Gort Town Hall, Church Street, Gort, Co. Galway
(H91E0C8) on Saturday the 24 th October 2026, from 5-7pm. Following the repose, Marie will
return to St. Teresa’s Church, Castledaly.
Requiem Mass will take place in St. Teresa’s Church, Castledaly, on Sunday the 25 th October
at 2pm, followed by burial in the church grounds.
No flowers, please. Donations, if desired, to Gort Cancer Care.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all who cared for Marie and
showed her such kindness and compassion.
