One of Clare’s European Parliament representatives says the Mercosur trade deal makes no economic sense for farmers.
The initiative promises major tariff reductions for goods and services going between Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay,Uruguay and the EU.

Although over 200,000 tonnes of mercosur beef comes into the EU annually already, concern has emerged that the trade deal will undercut Irish producers.
Fianna Fáil Ireland South MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurcú fears there will be local job losses in the deal’s current form.
