Dara Culligan’s late goal sealed the victory, with Clare restricting their hosts to just two points in the second period.

Culligan led the scoring stakes with a personal tally of 1-5, while Diarmuid McMahon (0-3), Donnacha O’Dwyer (0-3) and Darragh Townsend (0-1) also found the target.

Clare led 0-7 to 0-4 at the break having played with a strong breeze, but were also quite wasteful, registering 9 wides before half time.

The third quarter belonged to Clare as solid defending set the platform for the Banner to kick three unanswered scores to take control of the contest.

Culligan’s goal put the result beyond doubt as Clare secured top spot in the Phase One standings with a round to spare.

That game comes against Limerick in Mountcollins next Friday evening at 7pm
