Clare will face Dublin in the National Camogie League Division 1B final
Eugene Foudy’s side completed their unbeaten record in the campaign with a 2-17 to 2-11 victory over Offaly at Zimmer Biomet Pairc Chiosiog.
Aine O’Loughlin netted both Clare’s goals in the opening half and along with 0-6 for her Truagh-Clonlara clubmate Roisin Begley, it helped Clare lead 2-9 to 1-3 at the break.
Offaly were scrapping for their lives in the Division, and caused Clare plenty problems in a stop-start second half.
It took a brilliant point blank save from Doireann Murphy at the start of the final quarter to deny Offaly their second goal, during a spell where they reeled off 0-5 without reply to leave six points between the sides.
That was as close as they would come though as Begley’s near metronomic free-taking routinely punished any indiscipline, with Begley finishing the game with a personal tally of 0-13.
A note of concern for Clare will be that it took until the 59th minute for their first and only score from play in the second period, while just four of the starting 15 got on the target over the hour.
Dublin overcame Limerick to book their spot in the decider, with that game being fixed for Sunday April 12th in Kilkenny’s Nowlan Park.
Foudy says while they had to battle in the second period, he is pleased with how a new look side performed
