World Wetlands Day Set To Be Celebrated With Two Upcoming Events

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Ruairí Ó Conchúir who is the Community Water Officer for Clare, Limerick and Tipperary along with Olive Carey from the Shannon Town Wetlands Project. Ruairí discussed World Wetlands Day which is viewed as an international day to celebrate the importance of wetlands. Olive discussed the wetlands project in Shannon which took inspiration from the green infrastructure plan developed by Clare County Council. She also spoke about the history of the wetlands and the way in which it brings the community together. Ruairí highlighted the importance of the wetlands which helps to protect biodiversity. The pair discussed the upcoming events that will be held in Shannon on Thursday 2nd February at 12:30 om and East Clare on Saturday 4th February at 11:00 am that will mark the celebration of world wetlands day.
