Winning Start For Clare In Munster Minor Hurling Championship

Clare’s minor hurlers have gotten this years campaign off to a winning start.

Brian O’Connell’s young charges saw off the challenge of Tipperary in Shannon by 2-15 to 0-14.

A brilliant individual goal by Michael Collins was the first half highlight, as the Clonlara man slalomed through the Tipperary defence before batting the ball home from his hurley to help Clare lead by 1-11 to 0-6 at half time.

Clare kept the Premier side at arms length after the restarted, and the game was sealed when Cratloe’s Marc O’Brien fired home Clare’s second goal to put them 2-14 to 0-9 clear in the final quarter.

Up next for Clare is a trip to neighbours Limerick on Tuesday evening next, with the Shannonsiders leaving a rain sodden Dungarvan with a 1-7 to 0-7 win over Waterford.
