Widow Of Clare Road Crash Victim Says Road Improvements Would Be Best Monument In Her Husband’s Memory

A Clare woman whose husband was killed in a road crash in the county over five years ago believes improvements to the road where he died would be the best monument to his memory.

57-year-old father of three, Michael Fogarty was driving his Ford Transit van at Junction 13 of the M18 motorway on June 5th, 2018, when it was struck from behind by a Volvo articulated truck being driven by Paul Van Tamlin

During the sentencing hearing, Judge Brian O’Callaghan raised concerns about the design of the off-ramp issue was again highlighted at the inquest into the death last year.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland says a report recommending an engineering intervention at Junction 13 is currently being finalised and it’s anticipated that any recommended changes will be implemented in 2024, subject to any necessary consents and available funding.
