Ukranian Chess Champion Living in Ennis Shares His Story

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Oleg Gubanov who is an International Chess Master from Ukraine that is now living in Ennis. Oleg spoke about making the move from Ukraine to County Clare due to the war and discussed the impact that the war has had on his local town in Ukraine. He highlighted the significance of playing his favourite hobby chess in Ennis which has allowed for him to make friends and improve his English as a result. He showcased the trophies he has won by taking part in chess competitions and encouraged people to take up chess as a hobby.
