More Than Two Thirds Of Clare Farmers ‘Better Off’ With 100% Convergence – Department

The Department of Agriculture says more than two thirds of farmers in this county will benefit from 100 percent convergence at the end of the current CAP period.

Figures released through the Oireachtas show 3,988 farmers in Clare would be ‘better off’ in the next scheme compared to around 1,876 under the 85 percent proposals.

Convergence is the process to redistribute CAP entitlements, with a number of agricultural groups warning the initiative could spread payments too thin across the board.
