Two People Arrested Following Killaloe Drug Seizures

Two people have been arrested following separate drug seizures in East Clare.

It follows the seizure of suspected drugs under Operation Tara over the weekend.

On Friday last, detective and uniform members from Killaloe Garda Station carried out a search of a house in Killaloe and during the course of the search approximately €1,000 euros worth of suspected Cocaine was seized.

A 19-year-old male was arrested and detained at Ennis Garda Station.

He was later charged with simple possession and possession for sale or supply and released on bail to appear before the courts in the coming weeks.

The following day, uniformed members from Killaloe stopped a car that was being driven erratically in the Scariff area and a drug wipe was carried out on the female driver, which she failed.

€1,000 worth of suspected Cannabis Herb was recovered in the car.

The driver was arrested and detained at Ennis Garda Station. She was later released from custody.

Investigation files will now be prepared for submission to the DPP for directions and the suspected controlled substances have been forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for examination.

These seizures form part of Operation Tara which is an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy.
