Nurses say the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital has spiraled once again.

The latest analysis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation shows there were 117 admitted patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 53 of those in the Emergency Department.

The overall figure is almost double the next busiest facility, Galway University Hospital, where 60 patients were left waiting on trolleys this morning.

Nationally, 612 patients were waiting for beds at hospitals across the country this morning.
