Tributes Paid To ‘Patriot’ McGuinness

The President, Taoiseach, and heads of political parties across the island of Ireland have today been sending their condolences to the family of Martin McGuinness.

The Sinn Féin stalwart has passed away at the age of 66, following a battle with illness.

Clare’s Sinn Féin representative has described Martin McGuinness as man of “truth, honesty and integrity”.

Shannon Councillor Mike McKee has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill, that he believes history will remember him as being among the greatest republicans to have lived:

McGuinness’ Sinn Féin colleagues have also spoken warmly of him.

Deputy Mary Lou McDonald says they have “not only lost a great Irish leader and patriot” but also a “friend.”
