Tributes Paid To Former Councillor Martin Lafferty

Tributes are being paid to a former Clare County Councillor, who has been laid to rest today.

Martin Lafferty was elected as a Labour party Councillor in 1974, before parting ways with the party and becoming independent in 1992.

The school teacher, from Lisdoonvarna, retained his seat in every election he stood in, up until his retirement in 2009.

Martin, who’s survived by his wife Helene, daughters and family, was laid to rest in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Doolin today, following funeral mass in Corpus Christi Church, Lisdoonvarna.
