Transport Minister Urged To Intervene To Prevent Planning Laws Making Clare Farmers’ Children The “New Homeless”

The Transport Minister is being called on to intervene to prevent children of farmers in Clare becoming “the new homeless”.

Current planning permission legislation doesn’t allow people to build on land which backs onto national secondary roads such as Clare’s N67, N68 and N85.

At last evening’s meeting of Clare County Council, Lissycasey Councillor PJ Kelly put forward a motion, calling on Minister Eamon Ryan to make arrangements with Transport Infrastructure Ireland, to facilitate planning permissions for farmers sons or daughters who wish to take over their parents’ farms.
