The state inquiry into the Grace case is expected to get a year to finish its work.

It’s terms of reference are being signed off by cabinet today and will include a requirement for an interim report after 6 months.

The investigation’s due to examine how Grace was first left in a foster home in the southeast, the monitoring of her placement, and the decisions taken about her care there.

But it’s not known if the cases of dozens of other children who lived at the same foster home will be examined.

CEO of children’s charity Barnardos, Fergus Finlay, says there’s a lot to uncover.

Clare’s Senator believes a state enquiry into the Grace case should be extended to investigate the cases of others who were in the same foster home.

Their families have reportedly expressed anger that they’re not being considered at this stage.

Martin Conway, who is his party’s Seanad Spokesperson on Disabilities and Justice, says all those who have suffered are entitled to the truth.
