Targeted Response Required From Government To End Clare Homeless Crisis

Calls have been made for a targeted response from Government to end the homeless crisis in rural areas like Clare.

It comes as new figures from the Department of Housing show a 21% increase in the number of homeless adults in this county in the month of November, with 80 people here without a place to call home.

There was a rise in the number of children in emergency accommodation in the Midwest in the run up to Christmas also.


General Manager of Midwest Simon, Jackie Bonfield has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that the Government isn’t providing the local authority with enough funding to deal with the issue:
