The Taoiseach says details on the reintroduction of the PUP for workers affected by the latest restrictions will be clarified next week.

Micheal Martin was speaking while visiting Ennis today for the 40th annual Eamon DeVelera commemoration ceremony.

The Fianna Fail leader described the current guidelines and restrictions as significant, but says they’re nowhere near as severe as they might have been without the vaccine programme.

The Taoiseach said the current guidelines are designed to be proactive instead of reactive to the potential threat of the Omicron variant and that the situation will be monitored over the coming two to three weeks.

He is reassuring the public that comprehensive supports will be available for those who will become unemployed and the reintroduction of the PUP will be clarified at a government meeting on Tuesday.
