Supermacs Request Garda Investigation Into Fraudulent Letters For M18 Plaza

Supermacs says it’s requesting that Gardaí investigate the fraudulent letters submitted to Clare County Council in respect of its planning application for a motorway services plaza near Ennis.
In the company’s latest statement on the matter, it says a Garda investigation is necessary to establish the source of the letters, that it will support it, and that does not tolerate correspondence of this nature.
It also acknowledges the hurt and distress caused to individuals whose names were included on planning submissions that they themselves had not signed.
Previously, Supermacs CEO Pat McDonagh has confirmed that the company had initially agreed to reimburse those who submitted letters of support, although it will not now do that after it.
The statment in full reads:
Supermac’s requests a Garda investigation into fraudulant letters.
As a result of the hurt and distress caused to many people whose names have been included without their permission on recent submissions, it is necessary to establish the source of these letters.
Supermac’s does not tolerate correspondence of this nature from any source and will fully support any investigation.
