St Joseph’s Miltown Fail In Munster Final Bid

St Joseph’s Miltown Malbay’s year is over as they went down to Clonmel Commercials 0-9 to 0-7 this afternoon in the Munster Senior Football Semi-Final at Hennessy Memorial Park.

A strong start from David O’Brien’s team saw them take an early two point adavantage through Oisin Looney and Conor Cleary.

Clonmel got back on level terms but with Gordon Kelly, Eoin and Conor Cleary troubling the umpires, the Clare champions went three ahead again by the quarter hour.

The half-time score was 0-6 to 0-3 in Miltown Malbay’s favour as Graham Kelly finished a three-man move before half-time but the hosts struggled to add to their tally after the restart.

Two Jason Lonergan frees reduced arrears before a Conor Cleary free made it 0-7 to 0-5 with four minutes remaining.

But Miltown Malbay wouldn’t score again as Clonmel Commericals hit four on the boucne through a Jason Kennedy brace with further white flags for Conal and Seamus Kennedy.

Clonmel Commercials will now go on to meet Nemo Rangers of Cork in the final.
