On Thursday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Shannon native Matthew Halpin who is set to take on his biggest challenge yet of completing a multi stage race in the Sahara Desert. Matthew discussed the race where he will attempt to run 250km over a 6 day period in the Sahara Desert in temperatures of 50 degrees celcius. He spoke about his reason for completing this challenge which is to honour his late friend Kevin Hayes who passed away in 2017 from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome.(SADS) Matthew described the type of friend Kevin was and shared memories of their friendship. Matt is raising money for Heart House which is a screening clinic that test people for sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS) and he is hoping to reach his goal of raising €10,000.
