Shannon Expects Christmas Passenger Numbers To Be Down 86%

Shannon Airport expects its passenger numbers over the Christmas period to be down 86 per cent on last year.

The Shannon Group says it expects over 10,000 people to travel through the airport this festive period, compared with 70,000 last year.

The impact of Covid-19 on aviation and the reduction in Ryanair routes from the south west are attributed to the losses, with just three Ryanair routes – to Manchester, Stansted and Wroclaw – operating out of Shannon this winter.
