Search To Resume For Missing Person In South East Clare

A search will resume this morning for a person reported missing in South East Clare yesterday afternoon.

Gardaí from Henry St in Limerick City were alerted late on Tuesday afternoon and mobilised units to carry out an initial search for a man of the lower River Shannon in the vicinity of Ardnacrusha power station.

The Killaloe unit of the Irish Coast Guard was tasked at around 8.45pm and requested to assist in the search operation. Volunteers mobilised to the scene by road and launched a boat to conduct a search of the river and shoreline.

Coast Guard land search team members also walked the riverbank while colleagues launched a drone to carry out an aerial survey of the area.

The search was called off shortly after 11.00pm with no trace of the missing man reported. The search is due to resume this morning.
