Ryan Pleased With Newmarket Progression While Scariff Eye Up Ballyea Showdown

Newmarket manager Tomas Ryan is pleased with the performances his side are producing after they booked their place in the last eight of the Clare senior hurling championship.

The Blues were the first team through to the last eight after beating Clooney-Quin, thanks in part to a brace of first half goals from Eanna Crimmins.

It takes their green flag tally in their two championship games to five, with a final round tie against eliminated neighbours Wolfe Tones to come.

Ryan says his side deserved to collect another two points.

Meanwhile Scariff manager Mark McKenna is challenging his side to continue their development as they put themselves in contention for a knockout place.

A hat-trick from Patrick Ryan helped them overcome Inagh-Kilnamona with county star Mark Rodgers opening the scoring with a goal from a penalty.

Up next is a showdown with champions Ballyea, in a game that could well decide which of the two teams make the quarter-finals.

McKenna says they cant think about anything else.
